Description, Dimensions and Materials:
We use only the world’s highest quality commercial grade materials to manufacture the Oyster lodge. Almost everything is made right here in the U.S. A. The durable, self-cleaning, highly capacity, compact, low profile Oyster Lodge with float measures only about 3’ x 4’. The Oyster Lodge can be easily tucked out of the way into the unused corner of a boat slip; empty dock space; or even tucked under the dock.
These Oyster Lodges start life as 16 Gauge Welded Wire Mesh, which is then dip galvanized, then UV Resistant PVC coated. The mesh openings are ½ inch and the unit has a built in full length 7″ door. The custom cut commercial grade Wire Mesh is hand fastened with High Grade Stainless Steel Hog Rings to our own thick, custom molded solid HPDE End Caps. Durable white commercial grade 6” PVC pipe and fittings are precisely hand cut, then solvent welded together to form a protective rounded rectangular float. The 6″ PVC pipe floatation provides 151 lbs of flotation (130 lbs after subtracting the barrel weight) for the Oyster Lodge oysters in the top 18″ of the water column where food is most abundant. The magical “Tide Driver” is made of High Grade commercial Stainless Steel wire that has been PVC coated, , then cast into a custom cast concrete weight and then swaged.
No sharp edges are on the PVC float when installed, making it safe around boats.

Oyster Inspection-
Everyone wants to peek in on your oysters and see how they are doing every so often, especially young students, children and grandchildren. There are many ways to easily do this. One easy method is to bring the float to shore using the tide driver line, then flip the float over so the float can get right into ankle depth water by the shore for easy oyster inspection. A second way is to relocate the oyster float at high tide to the shore and secure it while waiting for low tide. Then check in on the oysters when the tide is lower. Jet Ski lifts are also very handy to use.Another method is to go down beside the float in the water in a boat or raft. Below is a new, very easy method to lift your oyster lodge up to the dock if you or your neighbor has a boat lift. Optimal method for your location can be discussed at time of installation.
Buoyancy Testing
One Oyster Lodge has the same float capacity as a typical large Taylor float that is 3 times the size of a Oyster Lodge!
