About Us

Chesapeake River Restorations, LLC was founded by Captain Michael S. Kynett, USN Retired in 2013. Michael’s family sailed the Chesapeake in the 1960’s. Michael learned to tread water on the Chester River where his family enjoyed weekends camping while fishing, sailing a Sunfish sailboat, and outboard boating on the edge of the Hurd’s farm. Much aquatic growth that kids called seaweed prospered and the water was clear to the bottom when 6 year olds treaded water just past the line of seaweed. Later, as the family sailed a Newporter sailboat from the Hurd’s dock on weekends and summers, schools of spotted rays were easily seen while sailing when one climbed the rigging of the sailboat. This background is what motivated the creation of Chesapeake River Restorations. With your help, replacing enough oysters in the Chesapeake Bay and rivers that feed it will restore the health of the Chesapeake Bay waters and the rivers that flow into it. By getting involved today, your children and grandchildren will be able to remember when Mom, Dad, Grandmother or Grandfather were actively involved in returning the Bay, river and creek waters to their magnificent beauty.
